Sports journalism almost got the best of Adam Schefter.
In the sports media world, whoever breaks a breaking news story first wins a ton of credibility and brings in a wave of people. For the NFL fans out there, Adam Schefter is by far the most resourceful insider. Schefter is normally the first one to break NFL stories. Whether it’s a release, a signing, a trade, or even a contract extension, Schefter is almost on time with his reports and that’s why he has over 3.5 million people following him on Twitter. However, breaking a sports story almost killed Schefter tonight.According to The Big Lead, Schefter nearly drove off the road when he was reporting about the major trade that happened tonight involving the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles. A player-for-player trade does not happen often in today’s NFL and when a star player like LeSean McCoy gets traded away for another star player in Kiko Alonso, it is crucial for sports insiders to break this story in a timely manner. Even though he was driving through a horrendous snowstorm in the northeast, Schefter still had a job that was needed to be done.
In the middle of a phone call to ESPN, Schefter was so intent on breaking the story that he nearly swerved off the road and lost his life. Obviously, almost every NFL fan wants to be Schefty, but even though he has an excellent job, he does have to go through some risks to be the first at breaking stories. The NFL world absolutely loves Schefter and we’re thankful he’s home save with his kids. After nearly loosing his life tonight, you have to think that Schefter is somewhere laying in bed right now. Maybe he’s asleep like the image below.

Regardless, Schefter still broke the story and the media world appreciates his effort and everything he does to help the sports media world. And for that, we thank you, Schefty.
